Amplifier Scheme with Secondary Implosion for Extended-Burn Inertial Fusion Energy

A laser inertial-confinement-fusion target design that extends the burn stage beyond central hot-spot ignition by driving a secondary implosion and explosion in a highly compressed, high-areal-density shell, yielding a density-dominated ignition and an extra gain multiplier. One-dimensional direct-drive simulations under a roughly 10 MJ driver show much larger post-bangtime yield at a low convergence ratio.
