ArjanCodes Python Project Structure Guidelines

Software project organization follows conventions rather than a single enforced standard: codebases separate concerns into distinct areas (source, tests, scripts, documentation, configuration/dependency manifests), and internal code structure is further divided by architectural role (data access, routing, helpers, security) depending on application type. Naming-convention theory distinguishes casing schemes (snake_case, camelCase, PascalCase, kebab/spinal-case) by context of use—URLs, JSON payloads, code identifiers—governed by the principle of internal consistency rather than any universal rule. Test-driven development is a design discipline in which tests precede implementation to force decomposition, dependency injection, and abstraction, a discipline that generalizes across domains (including ML/LLM-integrated systems) regardless of the specific technology being tested.
