Automotive 12-Volt Electrical System
Every hybrid still has a low-voltage battery that powers ECUs, relays, and the brake actuator; the HV system cannot even engage without it. Disconnecting the 12 V negative terminal is what actually puts the ECB actuator to sleep for brake service — and reconnecting it may require pumping the pedal and clearing codes.
