AV Block Types in Cardiology: First-Degree, Mobitz I (Wenckebach), and Third-Degree

AV blocks represent a classification system for electrical conduction abnormalities within the cardiac pathway that disrupt normal signal propagation from the atria to the ventricles. The core theoretical framework categorizes these disorders based on specific patterns of PR interval elongation and QRS complex dropout: First-Degree involves constant prolongation exceeding 200ms; Second-Degree Type I (Mobitz/Wenckebach) features progressively lengthening intervals preceding a dropped beat, whereas Type II presents with fixed prolonged intervals alternating with intermittent non-conduction.
