Bilingual Stroop: Interference Transfers Across a Speaker's Languages
In a bilingual Stroop task colour words are shown in each of a participant's languages and named in one of them. Interference appears within and across languages, usually largest when the word and the naming language match, because meaning is accessed automatically in both. Because the order of language blocks could bias the result, the design counterbalances block order across participants.
