Bump-Function Velocity Discretization for Compressible Lattice Boltzmann Method
A velocity-discretization scheme for the Lattice Boltzmann Method in which each particle population is represented by a bump function carrying a mean and a variance rather than a single fixed lattice velocity. The extra degrees of freedom let the discretized equilibrium reproduce the Maxwell-Boltzmann moments up to third order, so the method recovers the correct compressible-flow hydrodynamics that standard incompressible-limit LBM cannot capture.
