Burst-Error-Tolerant Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computing Architecture
An FTQC architecture design (Q3DE) that makes surface-code logical qubits tolerant to multi-bit burst errors from cosmic rays by detecting anomalies from stabilizer syndromes alone, dynamically deforming the code to a larger distance during a burst via an ISA instruction, and rolling back and re-decoding the affected error-estimation window. Teaches how time- and space-correlated hardware error bursts break the standard i.i.d. error assumption of QEC and how an architecture can adaptively respond.
