Byzantine Fault Model
A fault model in which a faulty node may do anything: crash, delay, send corrupted or contradictory messages, or collude with other faulty nodes. Protocols proven correct under this model tolerate the worst case, including malicious behavior, unlike crash-fault models that assume nodes only stop.
