Cascade-Pumped Micro-Hydro Storage Using Intermediate Reservoirs

A pumped-hydro storage design for terrain where two natural lakes have a large elevation difference but are too far apart horizontally for a single reservoir pair. Several strategically placed intermediate reservoirs stage the pumping and release of water along a cascading path, making pumped storage viable in constrained topography while also serving water management. Includes a mathematical model and optimization for choosing the number and placement of intermediate reservoirs to maximize energy capture.
