Chiral Whispering Gallery Mode Cavities from Photonic Chern Insulators

The experimental construction of optical cavities whose whispering gallery modes are chiral (unidirectional and non-degenerate) by building them from a photonic Chern insulator of magnetized YIG ferrite rods, giving modes that are robust against fabrication defects unlike conventional achiral whispering gallery modes.
