Classifying Surface Cylindrical Centerless and Internal Grinding Machines in Manufacturing
Grinding is an abrasive machining process using a high-speed rotating grinding wheel to achieve high dimensional accuracy and surface finish, including on hardened materials that conventional cutting cannot machine, and grinding machines are classified by workpiece geometry and kinematic configuration (surface, cylindrical, internal, and tool-and-cutter grinding). This is a principle of manufacturing processes/machine tool technology, within the broader discipline of machining and material removal processes, distinguishing grinding from conventional single- or multi-point cutting by its use of a randomly-oriented multi-grit abrasive tool.
