Coexisting Commensurate and Incommensurate Antiferromagnetic Order in Cobalt-Intercalated NbSe2
In cobalt-intercalated NbSe2, the intercalant concentration sets the crystal symmetry and thereby the magnetic order: a centrosymmetric structure near x=1/4 gives a high-temperature A-type antiferromagnet, while a chiral non-centrosymmetric structure near x=1/3 gives a low-temperature double-q phase. At an intermediate composition the two orders coexist in one single crystal as a superlattice, as resolved by neutron diffraction.
