Collider Dark-Matter Searches Infer Invisible Particles from Missing Transverse Momentum

Beams collide head-on, so final-state transverse momentum must sum to zero; an imbalance against a single jet or photon ('mono-X') signals invisible particles. The LHC has seen no excess, and a collider can only show lifetimes of nanoseconds, not cosmic stability.
