A validated asynchronous Byzantine agreement (VABA) protocol in which only a randomly selected committee of parties, rather than all n parties, broadcasts and drives each round, cutting the message and computation overhead of reaching agreement in an asynchronous Byzantine-fault network. Students learn how committee selection combined with provable broadcast, threshold signatures, a common coin, and leader election preserves safety and liveness while trading a modest increase in latency for lower communication cost.
