Congenital Male Reproductive Pathology Including Cryptorchidism Hypospadias and Epispadias

Congenital male reproductive pathology encompasses developmental anomalies arising from failures in embryologic descent and fusion processes: cryptorchidism results from incomplete testicular descent from the abdomen into the scrotum via the gubernaculum, while hypospadias and epispadias are defined by failure of urethral fold fusion on the ventral versus dorsal aspect of the penis, respectively. These conditions belong to the broader domain of urologic embryology and pathology, where abnormal descent is clinically significant as a risk factor for testicular malignancy, and abnormal fusion carries associated complications such as bladder extrophy, omphalocele, gastroschisis, and hydrocele.
