A modification of Axelrod's cultural-dissemination model in which agents occupy a Barabasi-Albert scale-free network and hold continuous opinions in the open interval (-1,1) measured by a hyperbolic (Poincare-ball) distance rather than discrete traits on a lattice. An agreement-threshold interaction rule makes similar agent pairs converge and dissimilar pairs diverge, reproducing the boomerang effect of persuasion, and the model robustly evolves toward extreme opinion polarization whose onset is governed by the ratio of the agreement threshold to the initial opinion spread.
