Continuous Performance Tests Measure Sustained Attention and Impulsivity
A continuous performance test presents a long stream of stimuli with occasional targets or occasional non-targets, requiring sustained attention over several minutes. Omission errors index inattention, commission errors index impulsivity, and response-time variability indexes lapses. Performance typically declines across the session, the vigilance decrement, and the pattern of errors is used in attention-deficit assessment alongside other evidence.
