A firmware controller (Control-Sync) that turns a wide-bandgap grid-tied inverter into a universal inverter able to switch seamlessly between grid-following and grid-forming operation without any communication link. It maintains two synchronized pairs of voltage-amplitude and phase-angle control paths - one for each mode - with only one active at a time while the other tracks in the background, and adds direct phase-angle detection, frequency restoration, and communication-free islanding and reconnection detection, so inverters in an islanded microgrid can cooperatively restore frequency and independently restore node voltages without a supervisory network.
