Curriculum Design for Teaching Quantum Computer Programming and Software Engineering
A six-step, experience-based teaching approach for a graduate quantum computer programming and quantum software engineering course, drawn from lecturers in Finland and Spain. The sequence moves from establishing quantum foundations, through the quantum software development lifecycle, to using containerization (Docker) as a preparatory step before hands-on labs in three frameworks - IBM Qiskit, Xanadu PennyLane, and D-Wave Ocean SDK. A student learns how to structure and scaffold a hard-to-teach practical subject so that abstract quantum concepts connect to reproducible programming environments.
