Dark Photons and Kinetic Mixing in Beyond-Standard-Model Physics
The extension of the Standard Model gauge group by an extra Abelian U(1) whose massive gauge boson (the dark photon) couples to ordinary matter only through a small kinetic-mixing parameter epsilon with hypercharge. Covers the origin of the mixing (often loop-induced or from string compactifications), how diagonalizing the gauge kinetic terms yields feeble millicharge-like couplings, and why the dark photon is a well-motivated dark-matter and hidden-sector candidate.
