Deformation Dependence of Gamow-Teller Strength in Waiting-Point Nuclei

Combines relativistic mean-field predictions of quadrupole deformation (beta2) with proton-neutron QRPA to show that Gamow-Teller strength distributions and beta-decay half-lives of neutron-deficient A~70 waiting-point nuclei depend strongly on nuclear shape, with density-dependent DD-ME2 deformations best reproducing measured half-lives relevant to the astrophysical rp-process.
