Dirac Quantum Spin Liquid in the Shastry-Sutherland Antiferromagnet

Combines projective symmetry group classification of fermionic mean-field states with DMRG, variational Monte Carlo on Gutzwiller-projected wavefunctions, and the pseudo-fermion functional renormalization group to characterize the quantum spin liquid phase of the spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the Shastry-Sutherland lattice. It identifies the ground state as a gapless Z2 Dirac spin liquid, shows it shares the same phase as the square-lattice J1-J2 model, and connects the result to experimental signatures in Pr2Ga2BeO7.
