Dual Micro-Ring Resonators with Angular Phase-Change Modulation for Photonic Nonlinear Activation

An all-optical neuromorphic device in which two silicon microring resonators carry angularly-positioned segments of the phase-change material GST; switching the GST between amorphous and crystalline states reshapes the rings' transmission to realize a tunable nonlinear activation function with two resonant wavelengths, narrow bandwidth and high switching contrast.
