Endogenous Peroxidase and Biotin Blocking
Erythrocytes, granulocytes and liver contain endogenous peroxidase that turns DAB brown without any antibody, and kidney and liver contain free biotin that binds avidin reagents; hydrogen peroxide quench and an avidin/biotin block remove these. Polymer detection systems make the biotin block unnecessary.
