An operational policy for maintaining beam polarization in an electron storage ring (e.g. the EIC electron ring). Because stored bunches relax toward a single-direction asymptotic radiative polarization, 'up' and 'down' bunches decay by different amounts and would need different refresh rates. The analysis shows the total refresh rate is almost independent of the asymptotic radiative-polarization level, argues that the real objective of spin matching is to maximize the polarization buildup time constant rather than its asymptotic magnitude, and proposes a scheme to equalize the up and down refresh rates -- simplifying operations and reducing systematic errors in high-energy-physics experiments.
