Finality Gadget
An overlay BFT protocol that runs on top of a block-production mechanism and periodically finalizes checkpoints by supermajority vote, upgrading probabilistic finality to economic finality: reverting a finalized block requires at least one-third of stake to commit slashable offenses. It separates liveness (keep producing blocks) from safety (never revert finalized ones).
