Gaussian-Beam Spikiness and Biot-Number Effects in Photothermal Heat-Transfer Measurement
An analysis of how to measure a local heat-transfer coefficient from the temperature oscillation a periodic Gaussian laser perturbation induces on a surface. It quantifies how the beam's spikiness (standard deviation) and the Biot number affect agreement with the analytical model and the time to reach periodic steady state, and identifies a phase-linearity technique that is most reliable when the Biot number is of order unity.
