GdNb6Sn6: A Niobium-Based 4d Kagome Metal with Frustrated Magnetism and Topological Bands
The synthesis and characterization of GdNb6Sn6, a new HfFe6Ge6-type (166) kagome metal that extends the RT6Sn6 family from 3d to 4d transition metals via a niobium kagome lattice with a frustrated triangular Gd network. X-ray diffraction fixes the structure; magnetic susceptibility and specific heat reveal long-range Gd magnetic order near 2.3 K; transport shows metallic behavior, unsaturated positive magnetoresistance, and a hole-dominated multiband Hall effect; and first-principles calculations show Nb-4d states dominate the Fermi level with multiple topologically nontrivial band crossings, establishing RNb6Sn6 as a tunable platform for topological magnetism and electron correlations.
