Go/No-Go Tasks Measure Response Inhibition
In a go/no-go task most stimuli require a quick response and a minority require withholding it. Because responding becomes prepotent, participants make commission errors on no-go trials, and the rate of those errors indexes response inhibition. Faster go reaction times generally accompany more commission errors, a speed-control trade-off that must be considered when comparing people or conditions.
