Gradient Polaritonic Surfaces from Soliton Superlattices in Moire Materials

Engineer natural gradient polaritonic surfaces that give space-variant, switchable light-matter interactions by using a superlattice of structural solitons in a twisted-bilayer-graphene-on-boron-nitride moire system. Achieve on-off switching and continuous modulation of local polariton-soliton coupling by tuning local strain direction, and spatially reshape the near-field amplitude, phase, and propagation direction of polaritons to generate and electrically switch directional polaritons in nanoscale footprints.
