Guest posting is writing an article for another site, usually with a link back. It is legitimate when the article is editorial and aimed at that site's readers, but guest posts written mainly for keyword-anchor links, and any link bought for money or goods without a sponsored or nofollow label, violate search engine link-spam policies and can lead to lost rankings.
