High-Power Terahertz Generation by Optical Rectification in an Enhancement Cavity

A scheme for producing high-average-power terahertz pulses by driving optical rectification in a thin lithium niobate crystal placed inside a passive enhancement cavity, which multiplies the intracavity average power of an ordinary watt-level ytterbium ultrafast laser by more than two orders of magnitude. It lets widely available multi-watt lasers reach the peak intensities needed for efficient terahertz conversion at high repetition rate.
