I2C Device Addressing

Each I2C transfer begins with a 7-bit device address plus a read/write bit, so up to 127 targets can share the bus but two devices with the same fixed address collide. Address-select pins, address translators, or bus multiplexers resolve conflicts, and a bus scan of all addresses confirms which devices actually acknowledge.
