Integrative and Distributive Negotiation

Distinguishes negotiations that split a fixed pie, called distributive or win-lose, from negotiations that grow the pie by trading across differently valued interests, called integrative or win-win. Shows that treating every negotiation as distributive leaves value unclaimed whenever parties actually weight the trade-offs differently. Used to reframe scope disputes as a search for trades rather than a single point of compromise.
