Job Demands-Resources Model

An occupational health model stating that burnout risk rises with job demands such as workload, time pressure, and emotional labor, and falls with job resources such as autonomy, support, and feedback, and that the ratio between the two predicts strain better than either alone. Explains why two people with identical workloads can have very different burnout outcomes depending on the resources available to them. Used to identify whether a burnout problem needs fewer demands, more resources, or both.
