Longest-Chain Rule

Nodes adopt the fork with the greatest cumulative proof-of-work (not literal block count) as the valid history, so honest miners always extend the heaviest chain. Agreement emerges statistically: as long as honest hash power exceeds any attacker's, competing forks die out.
