Magnonic Waveguides Confined by Surface-Anisotropy Bragg Mirrors

A spin-wave waveguide formed inside a single uniform low-damping ferromagnetic film by periodically patterning surface anisotropy into stripe regions that behave as one-dimensional magnonic crystals (Bragg mirrors), confining modes in a wider central defect. Bragg confinement within the magnonic band gaps lets the guide carry spin-wave modes above the plain layer's ferromagnetic-resonance frequency while avoiding static demagnetizing fields and edge modes.
