Massive White Dwarf-M Dwarf Detached Binary Within the Cataclysmic Variable Period Gap
The identification and physical characterization of a detached eclipsing white-dwarf plus M-dwarf binary whose white dwarf is unusually massive and whose orbital period falls inside the 2-3 hour cataclysmic-variable period gap. Combining spectroscopic radial velocities, SED fitting, and eclipse modeling determines both components' masses and radii, and the white dwarf's cool temperature identifies the system as a pre-mass-transfer post-common-envelope binary predicted to become a cataclysmic variable.
