Measuring the Solar Turbulence Injection Scale into the Chromosphere
From the highest-resolution white-light total-solar-eclipse image to date, the transverse correlation length of coronal brightness fluctuations is measured from 0.33 to 9 Mm above the surface — two orders of magnitude closer than prior work. The turbulence injection scale in the chromosphere is ~1.5 Mm, matching photospheric granule size and implicating granulation as the driver; the correlation length's radial gradient (flat to 4 Mm, then rising to 9 Mm) tracks magnetic-field expansion through the transition region.
