Mental Rotation Time Grows Linearly with Angular Disparity

In a mental rotation task participants judge whether two objects are identical or mirror images when one is rotated relative to the other. Reaction time increases approximately linearly with the angle of rotation, as though the image were turned at a constant rate. The finding supports analogue spatial representations and the task is a standard measure of spatial ability.
