Model-Independent Direct Measurement of Dark Matter Mass via Matter-Beam Scattering

A kinematic method to determine a dark-matter particle's mass directly, breaking the mass-cross-section degeneracy of conventional direct detection. A high-energy matter beam scatters off a quasi-static dark-matter target; using two-body elastic-scattering kinematics with energy-momentum conservation, the dark-matter mass is written solely as a function of observables, the scattering angle (cos theta) and the beam's initial and final energies. This requires no assumption about the dark-matter-Standard-Model interaction, and the result also constrains that interaction strength.
