Multiply Charged Ions

Electrospray of a protein or polymer produces a series of [M+nH]n+ ions whose m/z values are (M + n x 1.00728)/n, giving a charge-state envelope well below the true mass. Adjacent charge states are related by a fixed algebraic relation that lets both n and M be solved from any two peaks.
