Nitrogen Rule

A molecule made of C, H, O, S and halogens with an even number of nitrogens has an even nominal molecular mass; an odd number of nitrogens gives an odd mass. The rule inverts for even-electron fragment ions and for protonated species in soft-ionization spectra.
