Non-Obvious Manipulability Mechanisms for Hedonic Coalition Formation Games

Mechanism design for hedonic coalition-formation games under the non-obvious manipulability (NOM) criterion, a relaxation of strategyproofness that only forbids manipulations an agent could detect without knowing others' strategies. For friends-appreciation preferences it yields a polynomial-time NOM mechanism with a constant-factor approximation to social welfare, alongside NP-hardness of the optimum and an impossibility result for enemies-aversion preferences.
