Normal Uterine Anatomy in Gynecologic Pathology
Female reproductive pathology is organized along the anatomic sequence of the reproductive tract—vulva, vagina, cervix, uterus, and fallopian tube—with pathology at each site studied in relation to its normal structure. The uterus, situated between the cervix and fallopian tube, is composed of an inner lining called the endometrium and an outer muscular layer called the myometrium, a distinction foundational to understanding uterine pathologies such as endometritis, endometriosis, and myometrial tumors (e.g., leiomyoma).
