Operant Conditioning

The principle that behavior is shaped by its consequences: actions followed by reinforcement become more frequent, and actions followed by punishment become less frequent. Developed by Skinner, it explains a large share of everyday learning through reward and consequence. Used as the contrast case for showing where extrinsic reward schedules can crowd out intrinsic interest.
