Parametric vs Direct Modeling
Parametric modelers store an ordered recipe of features that is replayed on every edit, while direct modelers push and pull the final B-rep faces with no recorded history. History gives automatic downstream updates and captured intent at the cost of fragility; direct editing is robust on imported or one-off geometry but forgets why the shape is what it is.
