Phosphate-Solubilizing Bacteria Free Some Bound Soil Phosphorus with Organic Acids
Bacteria such as Pseudomonas and Bacillus release gluconic and other organic acids and phosphatase enzymes that free P fixed by Ca at high pH or by Fe and Al at low pH. Inoculant field gains are inconsistent and add nothing where a soil test already shows high P.
