Accuracy vs Precision
Accuracy is closeness of a measurement to the true value; precision is closeness of repeated measurements to each other. A sensor can be precise but inaccurate (a fixable bias) or accurate on average but imprecise (noise), and the distinction dictates whether calibration or filtering is the cure.
