Pulsar-Stimulated CH Maser Emission Search in the Interstellar Medium

An observational radio-astronomy technique that looks for maser (stimulated) emission from interstellar CH molecules amplified by the photons of a background pulsar, by differencing pulsar-ON and pulsar-OFF phase spectra of the CH Lambda-doublet transitions near 3.3 GHz. It yields CH column densities and cloud-state diagnostics and places upper limits on the pulsar maser amplification factor, demonstrating the feasibility of detecting fast-switching pulsar-stimulated emission in the interstellar medium.
